possible show steer for sale

I live in south central Texas, we raise show cattle.  We have a calf that was born to late for us to show here in Texas, he was born April 3, 2008 he is out of our herd bull and an Angus Maine Cow--he is stout.  I will try to post a picture of him on here towards the end of the week.  My question is for people up north is this the right age of a steer for you and would anyone travel that far for a steer.  Thanks
