Prospect Steer...Opinions. Added our #2 Steer

One of our steers for this season. He is a mid March calf (11 months). Monopoly X Strictly Business.  I will get pics of the other 3 in the next couple weeks. I'd say he's our #3 which is why he's shooting for 7/15/14 County Fair. He weighs about 1050 now.

FYI, that's a pre-show pic someone snapped with a phone, and sent me after the show. I know he needs loined down...he wasn't posing for the picture.

The second calf is what I consider to be our #2. He's a holdover aged Bad Company. 775#. Won his class @ NE Cattlemans Classic. Might make state fair.

I really like the smoothness he is built with, like you said needs loined slightly but that's pretty picky. Very sound/attractive built critter, yet has the power needed. Congrats.

I would keep that one hidden until showtime. Super.

When we bought him, he was literally 7 days on grain.  He was so green and pencil necked, he looked like a crane!

We put him on full feed as fast as we could, and he just exploded!

Thank you Mark, and great read. One like this could get stale really easy. That's why we are getting him fat as fast as we can and coast him in.

He will stay "right" in his movement because he's so good on the ground. Hair is going to be the key to him looking fresh.

That's my take anyway.

Is he home raised? Very impressive!

Thank you. He is not. We don't run any cows. I really wish I could claim that I had raised him. He was spoken for by a trader when he was about 4 months old. He was so green at weaning that the trader wouldn't take him. The guy that raised him met us a couple years ago. He called and said he had a good one that had to go to someone that could feed one.

We usually get out showed, always get out fit, but we have yet to get out fed!

He was CHEAP!
