Well I'm pretty proud of my 7 year old son , opening morning he braved -5 weather with -20 wind chills in our blind and got it done ! His first buck ever with my muzzle loader ! I loaded it down to 70 grains and got him some shooting sticks , 80 yards one shot ! Its all about getting them outdoors in any way shape or form ! Good luck to all the hunters on here this season !

That reminds me of some of my hunts a few year's back, battling harsh cold days looking for those bucks and enjoying each and every second. I'm now beginning to get the tendency to miss those real cold days, I guess it comes with getting older,  (lol). Muzzleloader season comes back in this Saturday here in WKY, and I'm planning on trying it a bit. I done got my buck opening day of gun season, an 8 point.
You've got you a tough boy there with a nice young buck. Good Job!

That is a great first deer!!! Congrats you must be proud.  I agree getting them outdoors early and hoping you get some success to get them hooked and it will be a part of them forever.  Some of my best memories are of me and my father when he would take me hunting.  He wasn't and still isn't a hunter but he always took me hunting and fishing whenever I wanted to and I feel blessed every day that he gave me that opportunity to enjoy the outdoors like I do.
