just lie, like they did when they integrated holstein and maine's.  i don't think angus could get that big that fast.

i wish the association would do something about sequencing some of those size freaks and figure that stuff out.

probably just better to keep secrets.  on the other hand, if some of angus came from somewhere else and it allows them to excel as "angus", people should know that.

it's the major reason i want access to the raw data which, again and again, is not that hard to deal with, especially if introgression is a concern.

The white going past the navel or above the underline has been a registration rule since forever.  Don't lay that falsehood on the crossbreds.. Lay  most of it at the feet of a certain BIG operation that fell out some years back, that's where the horn gene????? Came in and a bunch of these so called genetic defects that all the testing now entails.
Amaxing how being behind this and you still get to serve on the board of directors,

As long as you are not showing you may be ok but at our state fair and jr nationals they dna  the winners. I think thats why they started testing.

iT USE to bother me ,some of them are pretty good at it after 25 years, it's the way the board and association want it, EPD'S have lost reliability, now they want the breeders to pay for their great DNA program that they own part of ,and in our area there are commercial
breeders  are selling 800 head of ANGUS bulls and never even owned a reg. ANGUS cow .....Some of the herds 15 years ago were Hereford or Sal-er  cows and learned how to AI and selling bulls ....WE sell half as many Angus bulls ,selling Charolais bulls with lower  birth weights ,
and there has always been a great market for smokies with black nose ,feeders can't find enough of them .... They handle the heat better than the all black ones ....

You mentioned unreliable epds, angus world has too many breeders with 100 or so angus cows with calves by the clean up bull that go straight to the sale barn.  Well how 'bout we register them to some bull we would love to wreck,  turn in 100 lb birth weights, 200 lb weaning wts, and heck 350 lb yearling wts. That will sure help our program. <party>

DNA tests for paternity on Champions is a half true! As the grandsire and dams can be "exotics" and not will appear on DNA, giving an extra EPD for progeny due heterosis. I live in southern Brazil, starting a little Aberdeen Angus fullblood herd, but I'm conscious that US and Canadian genetics have lots of fake pedigrees. Would like know exactly herd or bulls are mongrels with papers, but suppose that none one will open the gates here on SP.

Right on Knabe-I remember seeing Grubbs Mckensie hobble around at North American Breeders-he wieghed at least 3000 pounds-but was almost completely crippled-because he could not support his own wieght;and dragged both rear legs. There is no way he was an Angus-maybe not even Amerifax.100% Angus is about as honest as Angus beef-GIVE US ALL A BREAK-great marketing however. The only other bull Ive ever seen that big was Deertrail Awesome-who was gigantic:maybe a tic bigger,-and so muscled up he didnt look at all like a Shorthorn-he was allways straight legged-but got around OK.
