Question for Simi breeders

I have 3 ET 734 full sibs, would you use the old proven Dream On or take a little risk with his son Dream Catcher? I want 3 live calves more than a great one. I dont like to gamble on my heifers. Frosty.

The Dream On x 734 mating seems to click very well. I know of one that was grand champion purebred heifer at the junior nationals last year.

Go with the proven Dream On. Its calving ease and it probably wont be a "throw away calving ease calf".

Because of that I would go with Dream On.  His calving ease is just too great.  He might throw an occasional big one, but they come unbelievably easy.  I just had a first calf heifer lay down and put a 96 pound Dream On calf on the ground without even a bit of problem.  You should get three live calves, and probably one or two really good ones.

Side note:  Some of the Dream On semen I have heard of lately has been pretty poor quality.  Spend a little bit more money and find the good stuff.

I wouldn't touch dream catcher

All of our Dreamcatchers have been 75-90 pounds and the cows had them with no problems at all.  I don't have any dream on calves so I can't comment about them. 

Our dreamcatchers don't have the stoutness that is advertised about him, the heifers have been stylish and pretty to look at but the bulls were just plain jane type of calves, went to the sale barn. 

Breed them to S.O.S. keep the heifers then breed them to DJ Salute.

Why not try Brad Hooks new bull POWER 2 CHANGE,supposed to be easy calving and looks real maternal,plus he looks real cool.

Speaking of SOS. Any personal experiences w/ PB simmy cows stout and deep as they come, good structure, but want to clean up front and make a bit smoother? BWs?
 

Personally I would go with Trademark. He is super calving ease..haven't heard of any calving problems out of him plus they should be easier to market without Dream On in the bloodlines. Yes a Dream On x 734 was Champion at Jr Nationals but she was out of one HECK of a cow, not just any cow, I think her looks had more to do with her dam than Dream On.

I would stick to Dream On he's proven old and reliable. I'm breeding several heifers to him this spring for late Feb. calves.
Live calf and proven is what im after....

Dream On.....Show cattle blood with the LOOK and no substance. Yes, there has been some offspring win shows at the national level,most of them are like today's Angus,they can hide behind most fence posts.Calving ease? Yes, that is a good attribute that is needed,there is a place for him,but he is like a lot of Meyer 734,unless you cross him on very good cows,he is vastly overrated.

I have Dream On Semen from ABS, It came from Dream Ons sophmore year. We have used it to flush with and there was no unfertilized eggs. 

To the post who asked about S.O.S. Yes he has been used on Purebred Simm cows. My family in Oklahoma has a few purebreds that they used him with. They had normal spread of births at 78- 88lbs. no pulls.These were out of moderate 734 young cows and  a couple older Black Irish Kansas daughters.He is the best bull in a lot of cowboys opinion,to make 1/2 and 3/4 females, I have also seen bull calves go for 5 figure's out of him. It used to be all you ever seen use this bull was the SANDEEN'S. It 's not that way any more. This cat is for real,probably should be utilized way more than he is now.
