I've been out of steers for about 25 years my daughter is showing a short horn plus the end of July
We are feeding grower feed from local elevator with out seeing this steer is there anything I should be feeding the steer weighed 800 in December
Is there any top dresses or supplements you folks use etc
Any advice would be appreciated thanks

I have a full shorthorn steer and currently I am not using any supplements. I think you have to feed according to what he needs. If you need hair you could feed supplements for that such as shag in a bag. If you need better/improvement in structure you could try moorflex or similar things. Or if you need more of a full look try winning fill or moorbody. All depends on what your specific steer needs. Good Luck ;)

Not seeing the steer but just going off of weight, guessing 1100 or more at this time, unless he is butter ball fat already, I would work him up to 2 pounds a day of stabilized rice bran, it will help put a smooth layer of cover on him and help keep his hair looking good.

If you could post a picture it would help determine if he needs more fat, filler or is right on track.

We usually fed the rice bran and Calf Manna for top dress the last 3 months adding filler to the calves that needed it.
