I'm getting ready for the vet to come put eggs in for me. My cows were in Yesterday. I've always known to put eggs in a week after they were in heat. This vet is wanting to put them in a day later in the morning. Has anyone tried this and how has it worked for you?

Just put in 8 today the very same scenario that you are talking about. All 8 had a good CL & were all standing one week ago Wed. PM. I guess you have a day on either side of day 7 is what I have been told.

I look forward to hear how you guys do. My experience is anything more than 12 hours either way and the conception goes way down. But I have limited experience, since in most cases the vet is out around the same time the cow was in heat (am/pm).

Let me see if I understand:
Mollymoo is putting in embryos the day after they are in heat, day 1. Standing heat is day 0.
CAB put in embryos on day 8 after standing heat.
Do I have that correct?

It has been my experience that timing is pretty important, with 12 hours being some sort of gauge of "premium timing".
So, if they are in heat in the 8 am on day 0, the embryo could be put in between 8 pm day 6 and 8 pm day 7 (24 hour spread), with the optimal time of inserting embryo at 8 am on day 7.

How much track record of success does the vet have with implanting on day 1?    Seems if the whole industry does it on day 7, and someone wants to do it on day 1, I would be saying not with my embryos until I see it work......

I would like clarification then.....    But.  Even so, if the industry standard is one thing and a vet or tech wants to do something different.....

Yes you should be fine with 8 day heats. Like someone else said a day either side works.

Here is how we do it at our place.  We give 7 day heats stage 4's, 7.5 day heats Stage 5's, and 8 day heats stage 6's.  We try and pick a time in the middle of the heats when we can get the most recips to fit the above protocall.  If they do not fit then we have the vet come back.  We have increased our conception 10-15% using this.
