Good evening. I am going to try and add more finish to a steer we have I read some of the searches on cooked corn and decided to try it tonight.  I used 2 parts water and 1 part corn. Seems like an awful lot of water but will try it anyway. (Just learning)!  I put in in a crock pot tonight for morning feeding on low tonight.  1) should it be on high?    2) in morning if there is water left do I drain it off or just topdress feed with it with the left over water also since the water may have some broken down sugars or starches in it?  How much should 1 steer get at each feeding a pound or 2 or more than that?

Thanks for all the help on this topic.  I like hearing from everyone especially on a topic that I never used before. so thank you!

I use a roaster which has temp rather than high low,we cook at 350, but we have a timer at elec outlet and the corn cooks from noon to 6pm. Therefore as you feed finished product you can have the next days made and ready. I would put 1/3 corn and fill to the top with water if there is excess water just adjust cooking time. Finished product should be big puffy hominy with little moisture. One more thing I add corn oil in with water so as it soaks up the water it doesnt stick to the sides of cooker and obviously I am adding fat and energy by doing that
