My daughter has a Sunseeker heifer that is bred to Rainmaker and is due to calf 04/14.  The heifer has a lot of muscle and bone and am quite worried about delivery.  This was the only semen we had left in our tank as we previously had bred her to Rocky Balboa and she didnt take.  Again, she is very large boned and muscled and is a first calf heifer.  Should we be worried?  We just had a 110 lb Chopper to a first calf heifer.  We thought it was closer to 95 until we weighed.  It was a horrible birth and we do not want this to happen again.  What is everybodies take on this situation?  Any comments would be appeciated!!!

All you can really do now is ck her regularly and be prepared to take the necessary actions, if any, to deliver a live calf whatever that may intail. Good Luck!! Clubbies heifers can be fun!!

Had two Rainmakers this year and they were 50 and 90 pounds.  With sunseeker in the heifer I would be expecting a higher BW but don't get to worked up over it until a problem comes.  I have found that the more you worry the more you think they are having trouble and get involverd when you don't need to.  Just watch her close and if she doesn't make progress give her a little help.  Otherwise let her do it on her own.

We just had twin rainmaker bull calves out of a carnac cow.  One weighed 80 and the other 85lbs.  They are really nice calves.  Fifty per cent of a calves weight comes from the cow also.  Good luck!

good luck, I know with my sunseeker whos a complete beast has had two calves unnassested. But, the first was out of a calving ease non clubby bull, and the second, a 110 pound tiger woods heifer. Being that its her first calf, and the chance of it being a TH calf, I would be a bit worried.

Just had 3 MANCHILD calves, who is the sire of RAINMAKER,and all three were big calves but all unassisted. I WOULD DEFINATELY WATCH THIS ONE CLOSE.
