Our show is in a couple of weeks and we have a steer that just does not have enough muscle.  He's had a Revlar G implant 90 days ago and a Ralgro 40 days ago.  I had somebody tell me to give him another Ralgro 10 days prior to the show.  Any opinions?  Thanks

Not an expert on implants, but my policy is no more than two implants in an animals life.  Lately, I 've only been doing one.

Were the initial implants absorbed or did they "cocoon" or encapsulate due to improper application?

Anyone else notice a change in steers' dispositions after giving an implant?  I've always thought it made them higher strung.

I quit using implants. They are acheap investment, but the results are very small. Its not like he is going to gain an extra1/4# per day, because he won't. Optiflex will put some weight and measurement on. It takes 30-40 days for maximum growth. But you will see asteer go from 2.5 to 4-5# per day in that period. They will convert any of the fat on them to muscle. So...you had better have a little extra finish or feed some additional bypass fat. GOOD LUCK
