If there down right good 1,500 if there just okay to good 1,000 ( i made a mistake on my first reply sorry) this is what i would pay for one the has all or most the details i listed. Though i am not needing any right now.

But it also depends on:
Attitude
Milking Ability
Pregnant AI'ed or not
How good their calves turn out as
Sometimes their calving ease

You have to take a lot into consideration

Are you selling open cows? Or are you leasing the cows to have embryos put in?
Are the cows open for a reason or left open for the purpose of  being a recep?
Have them had embryos in them before? How are their attitude and milking ability?

If you are selling open cows for receps and IF they are proven recep cows, I would say in the $1500-1750 range.
If they just open cows that came up open (and it wasn't the bulls fault), then I would say $200 over pound price.
If you are "leasing the cows" and caring for them and raising the calf till weaning (ok, I am making it complicated), I would say premium for the weaned calf.

I know I gave a complicated answer, but you asked a complicated question that has many variables!

(Hows that for a nice answer!!)

I'm glad someone was willing to throw out a number, but that seems high.  What is a recip cow besides a good commercial cow?

$1,500 for open cows?  How many do you need?  I'll get as many you want.  Just give me a week to go buy them for $800-1,000 first.

All kidding aside, what show heifer posted was pretty darn accurate based on a recent attempt to sell some cows that were left open due to a bull going sterile.  The going price for leasing the recips was $900-1,000 per weaned calf with the buyer paying all transfer costs.

I wouldn't pay 1500 for a recip unless they were cows that were purchased from the transfer center and the pregnancy was guaranteed then they have a little more premium.
We haven't put embryo's in other peoples cows for a couple of years, but we paid 200 over market price for the weaned calf, we paid all expenses on the set up and transfer and the owner paid all normal expenses on the cows and calves (shots, creep etc)

these cows will be open and ready for transfer. The cows are good milkers but the age has me thinking, they range from 7-10 yrs and they are in good condition; however, $1500 for a cow that is just going to carry the egg seems high. I am looking at buying 10-15 recips
