I really like Rocky Balboa's  pedigree and his picture and of coure that 60 lb bw.  I think he might be a good substitute for ali. Has anyone seen him?  What are some of his faults?

Rocky Balboa
$20/unit

Three-Way Cross
Sire: Ali
Dam: Who Made Who
DOB: March 1, 2006
BW: 60 pounds unassisted, first-calf heifer
Bred by: Bob Hine
TH & PHA Free

Rocky Balboa is calving ease alternative to Ali that offers a hair coat that is similar to that of a Scotch Highlander. He calved unassisted out of a first calf heifer and had a birthweight of 60 lbs. Make Rocky a part of your 2007 breeding plans.

The biggest difference in my pasture is that Ali is a purbred Maine and all of my calves out of him can be registered and Rocky Balboa will be a commercial bull, only heifers could be registered.  He does have a nice picture from what you can see of him, I would wonder how far he cuts up in the flank the way they have him positioned.

I think he may look a little weak in his pasterns,  anyone seen him in person?

You can't tell hardly anything about a bull from a hairy baby photo.  Although they are obviously prejudiced, the owner did recommend him to me over the Tyson bull or Hard Core for our kind of cows (larger crossbreds).  He is supposedly a shorter thicker bull whereas the Tyson bull is apparently taller.

On the photo, he at least doesn't look too straight.  That is my main concern on club calf bulls nowadays.  Most are thick enough.

I bred 10 cows and heifer to him and 10 to Tyson.

I agree with Chambero's comments about the clubbie bulls being too straight in general. What you are calling weak pasterns, I would call having some flex and you need that honest flexability, or those pasterns will be a poppin. My questions from the pic would be how high does his flank cut up, how much neck extension does he have, and is he going to have enough frame or is he another club calf dink? Ouch!! There is very good interest in Rocky Balboa. I'm going to let Chambero and Shortdawg proto him for us.lol. Let us know boys/girls. I'll proto some other new flash in the pan. I can't seem to help myself. lol. Cab
