Hey Guys I need to ask if any of you know the rules showing heifers at the following shows?  Ft Worth, San Antonio, Houston, and Austin  also Waco and San Angelo??
Can you show maintaners or only full bloods or what percentages.  We have some really nice heifers, the mommas may be registered but the guy we bought the cows from isn't sure.
They are sired by paddy omalley out of Angus MaineX cows.  One guy said something about showing them as Chi and I'm totally confused??!!  Can anyone clear this up for me.  I know Paddy is 5/8 maine.
Any of your help would sure be appreciated!! <cowboy>

Paddy O Malley is dual registered and his Chi registration number is 305174.  That means your heifers can be registered as Chianina even if their mothers are poodles.

San Antonio & Forth Worth junior shows require 75% Maine and there isn’t a Maintainer class.

Ok then, thanks didn't know that, but should have I guess, so no do in Ft Worth, or San Antone, but do you know about the others??  They would be maintainers right, I'm sorry to sound dumb, but kinda am since new at this registration stuff.  I really appreciate your help.  THANKS

Since Paddy is registered Chi, your heifers sired by him are eligible to register and show as Chi's.  Can't speak for San Antonio, but at Fort Worth there is a Chi show in the open division that has a youth show (not limited to Texas) in conjunction with it, and I believe a Chi show in the regular (Texas only) junior division as well.

Most shows anymore have all their rules and requirements online, try checking out the shows you're interested in that way for more information.

the only place you would be able to show a mainetainer in a junior show is at Houston in the ORB class. the other majors you have be 75% to show.

Just showed at San Antonio and while you can't show Maine or Maintainer....you can show Chi's in the Junior show.

You can show registered Chis (any percentage) for junior shows in San Antonio, Houston (as an Other Registered Breed), and at the state fair.

You can show Maintainers (<75%) at Houston (as an Other Registered Breed).  Haven't ever looked to see if San Antonio has an AOB class.

Most black crossbred cattle can be registered as either Chis or Maintainers depending on the what bull owners take time to register them as.
