I have some 7 month calves sired by him right now. Overall I was very pleased with the bull and used him heavily again. He is definitely to be used on cows only. Birth weights were in high 70s up to 102, most in the 90s. He definitely adds muscling and body depth to his progeny while maintaining an eye appealing look and soundness. His calves all have great dispositions and will definitely be at the top end of weaning weights for my herd.
His daddy has better calving ease numbers but Sweet Meat is better in growth. Sweet Meat's mothers sire All Star has never impressed me. He was a $4500 bull. They say All Star makes easy fleshing females, look at this link....... http://www.cattlevisions.com/Simmental/SAS%20All%20Star.php. They look like tight gutted, hard feeding sons a guns! My opinion. Sweet Meat is same price as his daddy. USE IN DEW TIME. Just what I would do.
Agreed , In Dew Time is a way better bull ! Have seen maybe a couple good ones out of Sweet Meat , but i think everyones seen hundreds out of In Dew Time . I would stick with proof , but everyones entitled to there own opinion .
In Dew Time is in the top 1% of the Simmental breed for Calving Ease Direct and top 20% of the breed for birthweight....I have had 2 born at my place. One was 65 one 75. I use him on commercial angus heifers when I custom A.I. and my customers always want to use him again.
Havent seen hundreds of them but ive seen a few , all out of pb simmy cows with different breedings , and i really dont think ive seen one much over 80 pounds. His calves wont really impress that much at birth but a little later they seem to come into their own .
My In Dew Time's have mostly been in the 70s. The highest I've recorded is 98. I'm a big fan of In Dew Time as well, he does a lot of things right but he doesn't add muscling.
