I ran across some sexed semen on FA. I am developing a set of Club Calf heifers to breed this fall (all clean). I am 70% sure I want to breed them Angus the first time. My logic is that I am writing off getting any marketable steers in this first calf crop and would like to be in the position to retain some of the heifers. Considering this and the fact that if bred this way they should all have heifers. Would Final Answer be a good choice to breed them to?

we have used FA on heifers, his calves come small and on clubbys should give you adequate growth  and milkers, we have a few  in production and get along good with them, so i think it would be a good choice picking up the sexed semen for what you are wanting to accomplish.

I agree as well-- even though a few years ago we purchased 4 bred heifers bred to a son of Final Answer-- and we yanked a hour long pull- 90# bull calf from one of them...  Regardless- FA was only 25% of the equasion- and I personally wouldn't hold that against him.

Those calves grew real well- only had 1 heifer in the group-- and she was the best one in a long shot.  Sold her to my cousin as a herd building foundation type female.

A well proven calving ease bull that will produce females that yield.  I would not hesitate.  He was bred by Kelly's father, which was one of the matings he would keep after selling the cows to Kelly.  I am using him a lot for his CED, CEM and phenotype.  Use with confidence.  He may not sire the home run, but his daughters will produce and those calves will be the kind.  Lots of good in that bull.

FA you will get some good replacements. I think if you have it to use you can't go wrong. I think you will like the like the results! He still looks good at 11 years old too I have to say. I like the Schaffs bulls a lot and we have a Pioneer calf on the way in May. Really excited about this mating. Good luck!  <beer>

Thank to everyone for their comments. You have all been very helpful. Looks like I will be breeding all 10 heifers to FA for replacement heifer production. Thanks Again!

Well I can agree to that, just making sure I wasn't the only one who thought the fronts on them were a little much.  His epd's are amazing though, lots of growth in there, thought about using him myself, but with those fronts I said no and am trying a few other bulls.
