Looking at an economical scale to weigh couple of show steers / pigs etc ... Any one using these ? http://palletscales.net/ps-2000.htm can't find any owner ratings on them... I would purchase a tru test with platform etc but @$2000 plus the 3 times the cost is making me look at more economical methods.

I bought the 2000 from them, before they had the 2200.  It worked but was not big enough.  Quality is low but it did work.

I also have the 2000. I bilt a plywood platform to sit on the top because, as the other reply said, it's too small. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine who does alot of aluminum welding, built me a new aluminum platform that is quite a bit bigger. The only thing he kept were the load cells and the readout. It's been a good, inexpensive set of scales for me. I've had them 5 years now.

I bought this one a couple of years ago without the platform and the load bars are 36" wide.  http://palletscales.net/alleyway_platform_kit.htm  I think it was around $500 for the load bars and reader with shipping.  We put 2x4's down over the load bars and set the grooming chute on top.  Kind of rinky dink, but it works with gentle cattle.  Will build a platform to use in the alley leading to the squeeze chute.

Our club bought a "Norac 5000 Scale" from Sullivan's, we used a 3/4 in plywood half sheet (8'* 2') with 5 2*4's screwed in to the bottom the long way, equally spaced. With gentle calves they walked right on, we just set it up at a gate parallel with the fence, for calves not as gentle, I made an 8' 3 rail panel out of 1.5" emt pipe to set up on the non fence side, (we just held it up) We hauled it to each place once a month for weigh day, and anyone who wanted to weigh any other time had to check it out. This was 6 years ago and they are still using it.

I think we wound up going 2 1/2W X 6L. We only show steers, so that was plenty big for us. Probably have around $750.00 invested in the whole think. Paid for itself many times over. We take it to shows, and can zero it to be exact with the official scales, not to mention that we can weigh our calves at home as often as we like.

thanks for the replies. .. update... went ahead and ordered the 2200 and they were delivered Tuesday..  The kid weighted both steers ( 1325 and 980) and both fit fine on the platform, one at a time of course  ;D.. then the pigs and goats ...  in the kids words plenty of room.  I have not actually walked into the barn to look at it yet... he weighted a couple of bags of feed on it and was 1 pound heavy...  will do more testing later. so far so good...
