Has anyone used the sexed semen from Select Sires ? I am thinking about trying the Shorthorn Capiche and the Simmental Grandmaster just wondering if people were having any luck getting them to stick ?

As with all sexed semen, it will not have the same fertility rates as un-sexed.  However, Select Sires is a good bet for high quality control and a consistent product.

Select Sires does an excellent job with their semen.  Has anybody flushed cows using their sexed semen? How many units?

It's not made for use in flushes, so if you want to risk it be prepared for a potential bomb.  It works sometimes, but be forewarned.  By the way, all sexed semen is sorted by the same company so doesn't matter quality wise if it's from ABS, Select or Genex.

You can definitely use sexed semen in a flush, if you are using the right dose straw. The 5 million dose straws are for flushing and the 2.1 million are for AI. The best results come with using 4 straws of 5 million per flush. 2 the first breeding and then 2 the next. Currently the only place to get 5 million dose semen is to have it produced on your own bull or buy it from a breeder.

If you are using it to flush, should it be used only on young cows or can it be used on any age donor?

For any age cows, the best Flush results I've seen are with 4 straws of 5 million. 2 the first breeding and then 2 the next.

If you can detect which ovary has the CL, then Horn breeding would be a good option. Still, regular insemination is what its designed for.
