We are considering doing this and was wondering what you all think and how to get the biggest bang for my buck. Who do you like, how much work is it, is it worth it? We would have 1-2 pots of calves.  Thanks!

Are you talking about the Superior Auctions?  They work pretty well, if you have good calves and they are in their vaccination programs, they'll bring good money.  There is some expense to it that offsets some of the benefit.  We are able to get more money in the end by negotiating straight with a direct feedlot buyer, but we have some pretty close connections.  Never heard of anyone having a bad experience with Superior.  It can cost a chunk of money if you have to PO I think.

We used to buy off of Superior quite a bit but haven't the last several years as we've located a good source of homeraised cattle close by.  We've did have pretty good experiences with buying that way though.

We have also sold on there.  Our last experience was horrible and very costly.. but I attribute that to an inexperienced representative.  Apparently we were his first sale & because his dad was a well known & reputable rep, we assumed he was working with his dad.  We shouldn't have madethat assumption.  But that one bad experience was enough that we've never attempted to sell that way again.
