Just curious.  May sound like a dumb question... but we're getting calves on the ground now from our first year of AIing most of our herd.  I was wondering if the sex (heifer vs bull) with AI is the same as natural breeding?
Seems so far getting mostly heifers.. course its early still but if it keeps going like this we're gonna have many more heifers than bull calves.  (last night first MILKMAN came... had to pull was a breech heifer.  But ALIVE!  Sure hope we don't have to pull the rest of those MM's!

I think 8th grade science is where you should have learned about the Xs & Ys.

I was involved in some research on vaginal ph, and timing to determine the sex of the calf.

All I can say is in the last three years of AI'ing, I am running 86% heifers (which is what I want).

What size is the sample group?

IE. How many AI calves are we talking about?

Anecdotadly I have never noticed a difference of one sex vs anotherin AI calves vs natural matings.

Just looked at my calving sheets and counted the number of female vs. male resulting from AI. From 2008-2010

49 female
27 male

Interesting.
