First off I want to let you know we do own half of Mercedes Benz, however I will shoot you straight. Just ask anyone about me and I would hope that would be their response.
We have calved out over 50 first calf heifers to Mercedes Benz, we have pulled only 3, 2 were small calves that were out of heifers that did not try very hard. These calves ranged from 65 to 75lbs. the 3 calf we pulled was out of one of Mason's show heifers that we fed hard until 3 weeks of her calving date. This calf was bigger and did require a pull, but I do not blame the bull, more the feeding plan we had the heifer on. I can firmly assure you I would breed any first calf heifers to Benz and be as comfortable as any angus bull. Now, Managment of any cow can cause a big calf if fed to hard in the last trimester and no bull should be held liable for that. The 49 other heifers were being fed, and were in good condition, but not show fat!!!!
We feel these are the coolest looking, most marketable calves on our place. Currently we have I-80, Sooner, Serious Buisness, Wisdom, Maximus, Hollywood, My Turn, I am Legend and Grizzly calves on the ground and with no doubt the Benz calves rise to the top!!!! Last years calf crop is currently being described as cool, soggy and sound cattle that are making waves across the nation!!!! I am very serious when I say that most people who had Benz calves last year, commented the only thing they did wrong at breeding season was not bred enough to Benz. So if you want consistent, soggy, cool, structually sound, and easy calving, I suggest you call SEK, Cattle Vissions, Genex, stepping stones or the owners and get your semen for this year. He will in no doubt make you money!!!!!
