I have 4 shorthorn replacement heifers next spring. Only one of them will have enough frame to think about breeding her shorthorn the first time around. So I am looking for some shorty heifer semen. If anyone has any suggestions of bulls and who to get semen from let me know. The heifer is an Apollo out of a Trump daughter.

Coalpit  creek leader 6, muridale buster 2nd, kaper 4508,  the first two should be available through cattle visions the kaper bull you would get through the owners(kaper cattle).

I have had a lot of luck with Homedale Creole 135, calves have consistently impressed me and he's got a pretty good CED.

Have only had a few but coalpit creek leader calves but they are calving ease with suprising performance. The best is a bull that we may keep and use on our here 72 lb bw 705ww in 205 days with no creep out of a heifer.

I have bred a lot of pb shorthorn heifers and the best bulls I used are Coalpit creek leader,Muridale Buster 2 and HC Mists Return, Saskvalley Yesterday has good calves but may be a touch too big, for my heifers anyway.

Some of my bred heifers one on right is a Muridale Buster 2 she is ai to Coalpit creek leader middle one is a CP Stockman heifer ai to Yambergan Tobermory a bull from aus. got semen from Crooked Post shorthorns. CP Stockman is another good bull I have only had one born here and it was good.

Saskvalley yesterday gets my vote, calves are small, thick, deep sided and he is himself can pass on his great head, he just might be a breed changer for the shorthorns

Thanks guys, the big cow is a 2nd caver she is a daughter of Belmore Jackaroo semen from Diamond Shorthorns, I have her AI to Crooked Post Network should be interesting. I ai some to Yesterday and the calves are impressive but I had 1 C-section and 2 assists out of 5 heifers. A lot of things may contribute to this it was just my experience I will still use him but not on heifers.

I'm interested in your thoughts that you believe three of your replacement heifers could not be bred to a Shorthorn bull because they are smaller framed. I get where you are coming from and in many circles that is the conventional wisdom. I would disagree with the theory that frame size has much to do with calving ease on first calf heifers. I don't want to assume you haven't thought about this but pelvic area size is very important and just because a heifer is taller doesn't mean she will do better. The other most important factor to consider is the bone size of the calf. Some heifers who are large boned may pass this on to the calf and make it a difficult birth no matter what. Also, the shape of the head and the shoulders are very, very important. You don't want those long nosed giraffe looking headed ones for calving ease. With all that said, I believe many of the bulls mentioned would hold up their end of the bargain very, very well on breeding smaller framed Shorthorn heifers. The bull in my avatar can do that too and in many cases is much better than using a "sleep all night" purebred Angus bull.

I know not always the case but in my experience most likely this bigger heifer will have the biggest pelvic measurement of the group. Not saying that 100% but would probably be my guess. And I've pulled my fair share of what we're supposed to be sleep all night Angus bulls out of crossbreed commercial heifers. I appreciate your thoughts.
