A couple years ago we were asked by a neighbor to find a reasonibly priced shorthorn bull to breed his daughter-in-laws registered Shorthorn.  We were working a lot with Genex and the only bull they had was Double Talent.  Long story short neighbor got hurt badly so we never used semen and were going through the tank this morning and found the semen.  We have a few Sim-Angus and a few club calf mothers that we would like to breed.  Most of the Sim-Angus cows are moderate framed and could use a little more muscle to their calves.  Most of our club mothers had adequate amount of muscle.  I believe most of our club mothers are clean.  We are planning to breed with some Monopoly and Eye Candy but we thought it might be fun to play around with a shorthorn but we still want a calf that would be marketable as a show steer or heifer.  Does not need to be a Supreme Champ in Denver or anything like that but would like to be competive at a county or state fair.  I know a lot of this goes with how the calf is fed and cared for but I would love to hear opinions if calf would be any good.
