There is a clubby shorthorn bull named Gringo, the one I know of is owned by Mid Contintent Farms. He sired most of my favorite shorthorns in their sale for the past couple of years.

That's who owns him. Do you know anything else about him?
How is he on BW?

At Kris Black's female sale last year, there were several heifers sired by Gringo for sale along with a couple of 3 yr old cows with very good calves sired by Gringo.  He did not have any of the shorthorn heifers bred to Gringo.  That's all I know about him.  I think he is a very good bull (deceased I believe), but not sure about using him on heifers.

See post on buyers remorse on the other site.  It's painfully frustrating sometimes what happens to your cattle after you sell them.  I'd just recommend to them that they call the bull owner and ask about use on heifers.  He might be ok, but I'm guessing not based on what I've seen.  They must be hoping to raise that great shorthorn steer, but aren't patient enough to give it a year.  You might get away using him on an older heifer, but using him on a heifer that is fed for show may be asking for trouble.

What's funnier is he told me they were going to register her a Chi. Could have heard a pin drop.

That's not surprising.  There is a little less competition down here in the Chi heifer classes than the AOBs.  I guess we'll probably have to run directly at her on down the road.  Our first show out this year will be at the end of April.  My little boy will be dragging a Nov 05 baldy heifer and an Oct 06 Kadabra daughter - both registered as Chis.  I'll post some photos of ours if I ever get around to taking any.  Just started building a new house and things are a little hectic for a while.

He said their first show was in May.
Looking forward to pictures. Isn't building a house "fun"?
