Heard from a reliable source (sale person) last weekend that there will be a shocking dispersal for this fall. Any one got any rumors of who it might be, and if it is who I feel it is, going to change the show landscape.

This seems to be the story going around but no one seems to know who it is. Be interesting to see if it one of big farms.

What are we talk'in about? A dispersal like: "We are done" or "Our herd is so screwed up we need to clean house and start over".

The latter would not be very shocking for most.

I don't think it's who you think it is--

Almost certainly the latter.

My guess is that the announcement won't be that shocking as their involvement isn't all that significant anyhow.  Time will tell  <cowboy>

What is the big deal who ever it is? Dispersals happen all the time in every breed. Even if it someone at the top of the breed, some people want to leave when they are at the top and not when they are on the way down. I think it makes perfect sense. Some people's goals change and what they want to with their lives. It may be a decision that is not even based on the cattle they raise. Life will go on!
I remember when Hoyt Central dispersed, I heard so many people saying that this was going to be a huge hit on the breed. Maybe I missed it, but life went on pretty good, and there is always someone else to take their place.
In this case, I do not know who this thread is referring to, but I have some ideas, and if it is one or two I am suspecting, I don't find it a shock. They have done everything else with careful planning and I would expect their dispersal would be the same. Sometimes dispersals have to be held to allow some family members to retire or to settle an estate. They are as common as fresh air and sunshine!~

Dear Jesus......the beef industry will probably collapse if a big name Shorthorn herd goes under. God have mercy on our souls.

Where did this confirmation come from? I can't find anything on their website about plans to disperse.

What is the reason for dispersal. Makes you wonder why they are having there spring sale in a couple weeks when they are selling out at the end of May.

There are probably lots of reasons for the dispersal. The Hagie's run a very large business other than their cattle operation. John Hagie, is getting older and I am sure he has his own reasons for doing this. It may have a hundred reasons why this has to be done. All I can assure you, is that this has not been a decision that has been made without a lot of thought and consideration. As I said earlier, dispersals happen in every breed for many reasons. It is unfortunate that it is Cyclone Trace's turn. They will be missed for sure, but I am pretty sure someone else will set up and move into the hole this is created. John Hagie is one of the best I have ever met and I wish him and his family all the best into the future.

Isn't CYT just recycled Sullivan and Cates the usual me to breeding programs?

compare and contrast your crossbred program and the progress you have made incorporating maine's and now red angus and all the other breeds into your purebred shorthorn herd.

it really doesn't make sense why you continually criticize others yet produce nothing.  L
