Expecting a calf out of an "older school" cow we have, and wanted some opinions on her breeding.
Long Story short, we did not have a chance to AI her last year, because of TONS of other stuff going on, so we bred her to our herd bull.  So if all you Shorthorn Pedigree GuRus could look this over and offer insight I would really appreciate it.

Seriously, you won't find any Trump-Doublestuff crosses out here in grass country. They need too much energy supplementation.

Then just know where your at on the TH status.

She looks like she could make one whale of a show heifer.

Congrats on a heifer calf! Looks like you have a lot of breeding options with her pedigree, seeing that there is no Double Stuff.

Thanks for the congrats. She does have some DS in her pedigree, but should be TH free by patentage. The bull with the DS in his pedigree is a non carrier.

Well, let me start out by saying that my younger brother is no longer allowed to determine the sex of newborn calves. Our nice little "heifer" calf turned out to indeed be a bull calf. He did not pay much attention before he called me and said it was a heifer, and when dad got home from work to weigh it, it was definately a bull calf. I suppose a healthy bull calf is worth more than nothing at all. Either way, here are some pictures of the little gender confused guy. lol

LOL! That's too funny. He's beautiful though. We had a calf from our show cow about a month ago. She had had two bulls previously. We wanted a heifer so bad. She came out with the longest navel so of course everyone thought she was a bull. We pulled that baby's legs open several times to confirm that she was indeed a heifer!!!! She's beautiful and we named her Lola.
Best of luck with your little guy.

Looking back, it is pretty funny now haha but we still check him occasionally to see if he felt like changing back to a heifer (lol)
