Got my heifer down to thw county fair this past weekend where she stood behind a jet fronted Angus for Grand and a $15,500 Simm Solution for Reserve. She was small framed, born March 4 and a week prior to the fair she only weighed 1130 lbs. The picture on the grass was the Sunday before the show right after clipping and the picture in the ring was this past Friday. Pick her apart and let me know what you think of her.

Good looking heifer.  If I had to change her I'd lengthen her neck just a shade.  She looks a little masculine in her front for a show heifer.  She will absolutely make you an awesome cow for raising steers though.

She looks good, like said she isn't perfect but one to be proud of. What's her pedigree? Who is she bred to? Who are you looking to breed her to in future?

She is a Mind That Bird (Dirty Hairy son that a Lautner promoted) on a PB Roan shorthorn cow who is around 15 years old. She is current 60 days bred to No Worries and I would like to use BIM to pretty up her front and Daddy of Em All. Hopefully this No Worries calf will be crazy colored and as good as the ones we had this year!

I'll look into them Mark! I'm hoping with her being blue and with No Worries beong a black blaze and passing the blaze down to all his offspring that we'll get a cool blue blaze but we'll have to see! Who else do you think would clean up her front end for some terminal offspring?

Durty or Keen? clean: Mojito, HAA Wisdom (throws blues) and a host of other maines,MB Steermaker-yes a Shorthorn,FSF Assassin (shorthorn-oughta be durty) FSF Hardline(black maternal bro I believe to Assasin, sire to a really great one at Sullivans-and some at Farrers)  WHO, or Doctor Who,and research some simms,Ive been seeing blues out of them, although I dont know on a blue.. Durty-RAINMAKER (more blues than any other at least that Ive seen),The Creature, and a ton of others-depends upon how small you want them. I still think you need to go on Trausches and see those 2 bulls-from looking at her. I talked to Raymond Gonnet once about Young Money and he said he aint no pud-and that he (Gonnet) is over 6 ft tall and he comes up pretty good when standing next to him-Hes definitly pretty fronted to be that thick. I think No Worries was an excellent choice. Daddy of Them All should give you a good steer or heifer. If ever decide to shoot for a heifer out of her and she is THC, Grizzly Bear (THF Monopoly x Irish Whiskey) might work.

We haven't tested her yet but we will soon.  MC, we loved all of the No Worries this year so all first and second calves got bred to him. One of the best bull calves is a stout and hairy No Worries on a second calver and we have 2 near identical heifer calves who are blaze face and fancy made. Here is the bull calf at one month old.

I like her real well-shes thick and looks like a steer momma-like to see a Young Money,or the new blue (part Simm ) Young Money son (both on Trausch) from her. O0

I really like the Renegade Blue bull Mark. Will definitely look into him down the road.. Just can't find if he or Young Money are THC!

Daddy's Money and The Ringer would make great options for low bw maine influenced calves. I'd suggest DF Vegas for making roans. He will certainly add some bone and extra foot to your calves.

Renegade Blues is double clean and he is owned by Competitve Edge Genetics not Trausch. TF was just distributing a small amount of semen.

Thanks for your interest.

I understand wanting to produce blue roans as they are a great attraction due to color alone, but just because you use a blue roan on a blue roan doesn't mean the calf will necessarily be blue. 25% will be white and 25% will be black. Using a white shorthorn or a black clubby bull gives you the same 50% odds of a blue roan only the other 50% is the bulls color. That's just how punnet squares work. Competitive Edge suggest to use renegade on clean fronted females. From what I see this female could us some more extension and look up front. Don't limit yourself just off the bulls color. Black clubbys and white shorthorns should be looked at. There are few blue roan bulls and even fewer that suit the needs of this particular heifer

Young Money is longer necked-extended than anything mentioned here:and Ive seen very few blues come back when a black is bred to a blue-ditto with aWhite Shorthorns;because alot seem to have a R/W gene from Maines-which is fine-but blues dont come from them as often, unless out of a pure Angus female..Ive seen alot of blues (given the small amount of use overall) out of Simms and some of the ones I mentioned earlier, with Rain Maker being the most consistent..
