OK all you experienced shorthorn breeders..... I am new-ish to this breed. BUT, I do have some CF Trump semen and am trying to decide what to flush him to. I have seen different crossings but still need advice!!
What type of cow phenotypically does he click with? What type of pedigree and bloodlines does he work on?
Thanks! :)

Showhef, what type of cows do you have? Are you mainly Angus or do you have crosses too?
I'm sure a lot of people would love to get their hands on the Trump semen!!

Believe it or not...I just have commercial angus cows with a few clubbies thrown in. BUT.....I have some friends that have shorthorn cows and couldn't turn down TRUMP semen!!  :)
Not sure of all their bloodlines, but I know one herd has quite  bit of Rodeo Drive blood.
I forgot to add, that I WILL NOT consider anything that is a TH or PHA carrier.

Trump / Rodeo Drive is a proven cross. Trump semen will also bring about $1000/straw.

Can you give us some background on Trump?
In other words Show Hef better guard the semen with her life & use it wisely. When you have semen like that is it better to AI or use it in a flush?

Trump has sired probably more champion females than any bull in the breed. Also, many of the club calf sires such as Sin City among others have been sired by him. As I said Trump on Rodeo Drive daughters produces  some valuable progeny. I would definitely use the semen in a flush. This would increase the number of calves you could produce off just a couple of straws of semen. I bought two straws of Sonny(Trump Son) last year and have gotten ten good embryos as well as a pregnacy on the way out of the deal. JMO :)

shortdawg: I also have some Rodeo Drive semen. And you mentioned that was a good cross. So, with those two bulls, what or where should I start? Should I use the Rodeo Drive semen on something (suggestion appreciated!) then cross those with the trump? Or use the Trump on something then cross that with Rodeo Drive?  I am pretty sure I can get my hands on a really good Rodeo Drive daughter, so could I flush her to Trump? Sorry about the questions, but I know how valuable this semen is and sure don't want to waste it!

Rodeo Drive, keep in mind is the highest BW bull in the breed, and VERY high accuracy. Several prominent breeders have based their show cattle producing programs on the TrumpXRD cross. Me, I'd call Verl Shell and pair up on a flush, if you dare to run with the big dogs. The Trumps are honestly too shallow-heeled and high flanked for my country. :)

Many of the bigger breeders will sell flushes in their sales ( WHR in march ). I would pair Trump up with a Rodeo Drive daughter preferably if you could get a flush on one. The Rodeo Drive semen is worth around $ 300 / straw and I would pair him up on a cow that needs more power and growth. His BW epd is high but his calves are very long bodied and can be calved out on normal size cattle without much problem. I have a bull out of a Rodeo Drive daughter and I've had very little calving problems with him.
