I am new to this shorthorn deal, but I have a calf and tryin to do my research on sires so when it comes time i will know who i want to breed her to.  She is a solution daughter and it seems to me that every sire out there is a trump, sonny, or solution son so give me some insight?

Showman,  ne I think that if you look at the pedigree of TM Gus 36S you will find that he actually is an outcross to Trump. If you can find the connection let me know, a lot of breeders are using him as an outcross sire and I donnot want sell him as something he is not.

Since you're talking about a heifer, I'd pay a lot of attention to birthweight (especially since she's a Solution).  Here's a photo of a bull that I think might work.  If you like his looks and think he'll complimetn your heifer, let me know and I'll give you more details.

Joe

I am an Angus kid so after the recent problems with curly calf and waterhead, linebreeding is not what i want to do.

I wouldn't be that afraid of linebreeding Trump a little bit, there's no genetic defects there. If your heifer is easy fleshing, toss some more Trump or Sonny blood in there.  I like our bull, Hi-Vew's Red Diamond, but I'd wait until she's a cow as he's not quite proven as a heifer bull yet.

Trump goes back to Cunia. Cunia is clean of everthing except monkey mouth as I understand it. Not sure how the monkey mouth deal works.

I think linebreeding is good sometimes, but when overdone it leads to inbreeding and that's not what I want either

I am still and always will be a huge fan of the Double Stuff lines.  JPJ & Sin City would be good choices for the 1st calf.

Hey Lee, do you have any picture of any Wymore calves this year? I've been thinking about using him, and I love the Gizmo females, but I haven't seen all that many Wymore's.
