No what about him? Is he new?

He is a solid Red Bonanza son out of a Gus 89E Daughter.  Check him out on our website www.shorthornbulls.com  We will be using him on most all of our heifers this year.  He carries a $33.55 $CEZ with breed average being  $4.49.  He is also asterick free for those of you who care.  Unfortunatley we will not be having any calves out of him this year but John Sonderman will have a good chunk of his cows calving to him.  In his first summer running on approximatley 25 Cows in Nebraska he held onto his flesh extremely well. That was when we decided we needed him back.  We used him on 20 falls this winter and he still looks incredible.  We will update his photo this spring after he slicks his winter coat.

I think JSF Addicted is the best of the JPJ sons. Above average performance in an eye appealing package. He seems to be breeding very consistently.

What is the Bonnyview Hero 7Z deal?  Ive never heard of him. How are they compared to your other bulls?

Bonnyview Hero 7Z is a bull that was born in the 60s. He was sired by HD Commander's Hero X who was an American Polled Congress Champion that was purchased by Bonnyview Farms and South Plain Farm here in Saskatchewan.  I  think they paid $3700 for him, which was pretty big money in the 60s. He was a powerful bull then and would be now. 7Z was from a cow named Nupar Ridgemaid X by Nupar Cherrio x. The Nupar herd was owned by Frank Fox, Lloydminster, SK ( Frank was a brother of Jonathon Fox of Justamere fame). Jonathon and Frank were in partnership in the Nupar herd for awhile when they were young. Frank Fox refused to use the smaller framed cattle of the 60s and he kept his herd bigger framed than most others. The Nupar herd was the base for many of the Ball Dee and Four Point herds and are in the backgrounds of bulls like, Ball Dee Perfect Count, Four Point Major and numerous others. Another thing that made the Nupar herd unique at that time was that it was one of the few polled herds.

I remember Bonnyview Hero 7Z very well. He was considered to be big in that day, but looking back I would guess that he was probably about a 6 frame bull. He was soft made and had lots of capacity. He maybe could have used a bit more rear quarter but he sure sired some excellent females.I remember he had huge feet that were as big as pie plates, and he moved like a cat. They always ran him with the cows so he was never pampered.  My dad and I were offered the opportunity to purchased Hero 7Z when he was an older bull when the Bonnyview herd was dispersing and we chose to buy a couple more cows rather than him, as we werent really needing a bull at that time. I often think about that and wonder if we made a major goof that day. The cows we purchased were all excellent producers, but they were asking $300 for the cows ( and they were weeks away from calving and they were asking $1500 for 7Z. We chose to buy 5 cows rather than the bull that day.

I purchased one of the daughters sired by Gus 15U at CWA, and was runner-up on another, and am so far very pleased with her!! Not alot for shows for shows around here right now but I'll have her out in full force in the coming months and expect great things.  She is a full sib to the Uphill Gussy 4X bull that was also at the Douglas test.
I am considering breeding her to JIT's HC FL Touchdown bull....any thoughts or advice on that?

I think that would be an excellent choice. We had 2 Touchdown calves last year, and 1 so far this year with 2 more to come in the next two weeks. They come smooth made and our 3 so far have been 81,82, and 84 lbs. We have thought a lot of the bull since he came to Agribition in 2007 as a calf and really like his progeny. There are no guarantees but I think you would be fine to use him on your heifer. We will have a second Matrix calve to him and they are Glenford Gus grandaughters so they are related to your heifer. We have flushed one cow to him and he is one of two bulls we are thinking of flushing our Candy's Winegum 14W cow to if we end up giving her a go at home this spring. At the moment we also plan on breeding Winegum's heifer calf and our full sib to Elsie's Jade to TD this spring. The Gus 15U calves do not need it but TD has a awesome top, hip and lower quarter which is what we are looking for.

I saw the Cumberland Gay Lad son that Gordon Turner Farms bought with Saskvalley and really like him.  Lots of length, easy fleshing and very gentle disposition. Do you have any Lad daughters in production?

We only have one yearling heifer by Cumberland Gay lad.

We got some calves by that bull Turner bought and they seem to catch your eye out on pasture.
