Recently began into showing cattle; I have purebred Limousin and Charolais cattle. I had a tough time this season getting them fed for show.
What percentage protein should a grain ration have? and how much to feed daily?
This year we used a 17% Dairy Ration(half corn) and fed 10 lbs. per day. I think that they should have looked in better condition.
Thoughts?

Keep in mind a thought, calves need to eat about 3 percent of their body weight daily.  11 1/2 to 13 percent protien is about enough, more than that and you are burning a lot of money for not much payback.

If the droppings are thin and you are at 3 percent, cut the protien back a little, if too tight add a little.

You will get about all out of one possible keeping this in mind. Fat or energy feed stuffs will lower protien, as will roughage, after that you have to workmwith the feeds you have available.
