I am in need of a spring born heifer for my daughter to show.  It will be her first year showing as she turns 9 at the end of May.  My wife and I both showed and farm/ranch for a living in southern Oklahoma.  We have been out of the show scene for 15 years and are looking for some recommendations on where to look for a show calf as the individuals we bought ours from growing up are no longer in the business.  I am looking for a heifer that will be competitive in the ring but also be maternal enough to do what she is supposed to and be a mother after her career is over.  Most important of all, she needs to be gentle enough for a first year showman.  I showed primarily Angus heifers growing up and my wife showed all breeds so breed is not as important as the other factors listed above.  We are not necessarily interested in the "turn and burn" cattle jocks (I know ther are good ones as well) as we are a family that we can develop a relationship with as we have 2 additional girls that will show if they choose to.  Any assistance with recommendations of individuals in Oklahoma or north Texas would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Just to clarify I am looking for a spring 2014 heifer.  I realize it is a little early in the process, but I am starting the process now since I am trying to establish connections.  Thank you to those that have responded thus far.

We are located in central Texas and raise registered charolais and composite charolais. We have some spring heifers on the ground.
