Have a bred heifer that went off feed. She started to make a bag and dilate so we thought she was going to slip calf. Had the vet out & he said hormones and calf is fine. Our problem is she will not even look at grain & just nibbles at hay. She used to be an aggresive eater. Tried probiotics/appetite express with no results. Looking for any type of suggestion. Thanks

You could call a different vet in order to get a second opinion on her. Does she look sick? Is she eating enough to get along?

I pumped her with nutrients & vitamins. will only eat hay & grass but you can tell she is losing her show bloom. No tempature & looks alert.

Your vet said that she had started to dilate? If she had started to dilate and hasn't calved yet, there is something not right and you need to have her cked again asap. The calf may be dead inside and is making her toxic, therefore no appetite. Call an experienced vet. JMO.

If there is nothing wrong with her calf, you've just got a hot, fat pregnant female on your hands whose body is telling her she doesn't want much right now.  Don't worry about it unless she looks like she is losing a lot of weight.

I have had 2 vets look at her both gace similar explanations. I was hoping for a different remedy to get her to get bak on feed since we will be going on the road shortly. I've taken a lot of cattle on the road and have been able to get them to eat. This one has me stumped. Thanks for all your in put. I let you know if I come up with something that works.
