She is a middle of September Heifer sired by Dr Who and is registered Chi Maine. There is an open show in September that I was thinking about taking her to. I cant make up my mind if I should take her or not. In the picture she has not been clipped or anything except for her tail. She has never been shown before but handles great. The show is a bit of a drive. Can SP help me make up my mind. Is it worth my time and money to take her or should I just leave her in the Barn? Any comments good or bad would be helpfull as well

Thanks for the help,
Wesley

Winchester?  I would say take her. You've put your time, work, and money in it, I would show her off. Even if she doest do good, at least you got to show her. She looks pretty darn thick in that bottom pic, I think she could compete at a show like winchester, if thats where your going. Good Luck!!!

I would say leave her at home judging bye the pics you posted make a great herd cow but not a great show prospect.
Just my opinion.
Thanks John

I say show her unless the only thing you are after is the purple. She's not going to burn the ring up but at the same time you will get some opinions on what needs fixin and might help you withsome breeding decisions. Plus I always like going to the pasture and working with the cows that have been shown so much easier to handle

If it was me I would leave her home. But she does look like she has pieces to make a productive brood cow.

Why not show her? I would think your time and effort should be rewarded. Besides with all the so called college experts judging nowadays, anything could happen.

Thanks for all the advice so far and keep the comments coming. For those of you that think I should leave her at home what do you see wrong with her? I know she is kinda of weak topped but what besides that? She has more hair than the picture shows. Thanks again for all the help

I would show her you put all your time and money into her why not show her. Even if she got last in her class you could know what is wrong with her. She probably won't win but you never know anymore. She looks okay to me. Looks like she will make a nice brood cow. You cant judge a calf by pics anyway, and you can't judge her until you see the other calves in her class. I would say go for it.  The most imporant thing is to have fun its not all about the winning. I have had a heifer surprise me one time i was not going to take her but we did and we were surprised! Let me know how you do with her. Good luck and have fun if you take her.  :)  (cow)

OK, I used to have these contemplations on weather to show or leave a calf home. It comes down to this.. HAVE FUN!!! Enjoy your project (after all you put the time, money, and effort into her) you never know the judge might just like your heifer the best.. After all its just someones opinion. If you like her, enjoy her, have fun and show her. She might just suprise you!! Good luck and let us know how she does! I have had heifers suprise me before!!

Remember: After its all over know that you did an awesome job with the heifer you had. And once again GOOD LUCK!! (thumbsup)

Is this a state fair or a smaller fair?  How many head will be there?  Do you know who the judge is and what he likes?
On one hand it might be good to take her, to see what the judge says about her.

From the pics, I thinks she is a tick wasty fronted, her head is a little course, and she looks a little bold in the shoulder. But, she appears to have adequate depth and muscle, and as far as I can tell from these pics, she looks structurally correct.

If you feel like playing the game, take her.  If your wanting to win the whole thing, leave her at home.  Just my $0.02.

I say show her. If you invest time and energy in her you have to be proud of that. She has some postitive attributes and again, you never know when you go to smaller shows what quality will be there.

Showed her on Saturday, she won her class although she was the only one in it. She was way under powered by bigger older heifers in the chanpion drive. I attached a picture of how she turned out
