They have my thoughts and prayers.  It sounds like Mr. Rusa is a great guy.  I just hate hearing these stories, but I hope things go well for them.

(angel) Thank you Britt for putting this on here, you are an angel for doing that!  All that I ask is that people please send prayers for my daughter, Shelby...she needs them in a big way!  Lisa

That is very sad to hear. :( We have a 10 year old and can't imagine how your daughter must feel now. Seems like when children are involved and you have some of your own these things really make a person stop and think. We will be thinking of her.

I am so sorry for your family's loss and will keep your family in my prayers.  (angel) (angel) (angel)  After reading your story I am going to get someone out to check all of our electrical  at the barn and make sure everything is in good shape.

I can only imagine the awful feeling of that day. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your husband and your daughter, who obviously cares very much about her calves.

So sorry to hear about this. What a sad story. I can relate somewhat. When I was a kid, we had a barn fire and inside were my brothers sheep herd that was lambing at the time. He lost over 20 ewes and all their lambs. It was a horrible thing and the worst was that there was livestock inside.  We will keep your entire family in our prayers.

what terrible tragedy to happen to this family, my prayers go to you

i had a friend in Illinois that this happened to about 5- years ago, lost his entire string, 3-4 breds, 6 open heifers and few yearling bulls, about a month before Louisville, lost his semen tank that had some pretty good embryos and semen in and the fire took his AI and embryo record book, so all next spring every calf had to get hair pulled and parent verified :(  he ended up rebuilding and is still a prominent breeder that i see at the majors -

the only advice i can give is don't let this situation discourage you from continuing your goals and that desire you have to enjoy livestock and showing cattle

Thoughts and prayers are with you.  We lost our dairy barn four years ago to a tornado and had a cement silo topple on the barn.  We also had my daughters dairy heifers in the barn.  We did not rebuild the dairy barn but became larger beef farmers but it was very hard on all of us as we had to see a lot of animals suffer so we know what you are going through.  Will be thinking of you.
