Schaefers are the best barn fans, we use Sullivan's for shows.

My Schaefers have outlasted many Sullivan fans in my barn. I have had problems with the Sullivans cages rusting so bad that the cage front falls off. Have not had this problem with the Schaefers that are several years older and run in the same environment. Schaefers just keep on running!

What are schaefers made for?  To be hung in livestock barns, turned on run all summer most of fall and spring and never shut off, handle moisture and last 10 years or more.  Sullivan fans are nice use them for at shows, but you don't see them in commercial livestock settings why?

Our Schaefers were bought for use in our Greenhouses about 8 years ago.  They ran 7 months of the year constantly.  After we closed our greenhouses 2 years ago, we installed them in our barn for the nephews calves.  They have since then almost ran constantly.  They are fantasic (no pun intended).  The are for contant use in moist areas.  I recently just bought a 24" Sullivans Turbo for a side arm for shows...we will see how it holds up.  But I can speak for the Schaefers.  While heavier and most certainly 'deeper' from front to back-they are tough and produce a TON of air.

Quick story of tough...we mounted one of our Schaefers from the greenhouse on a butt fan stand...it was in the driveway behind the pickup...dad backed over it (like under the bed of the truck and drug it till he heard it clanging around)  he bent the cage back to close to right and that baby still is a ticking...it is pointed at other nephews club pigs in the other barn!

Have several of each brand and feel they perform equally well. I do prefer the black look of the Turbos.  They are both made for the abuse of use we put them through.

I actually have black cage Schaefer fans. You can get them in black or white.

I do like the Sullivan Turbos for shows because of weight and cage size.

Bringing back an old one.
Where do you get your Schaefer fans.  I am finding 24" for $255 and free shipping.

Any new thoughts or preferences on sullivan vs. schaefer fans? From what I'm understanding Schaefer fans are better for barn fans but Sullivans are better for shows? Which one is quieter? jd438 where did you find the Schaefer fans with free shipping? Thanks.

I bought them online from a lamb or wool equipment place. I tried to find the site, but can't seem to find it. I thought the free shipping was a short term deal if I could remember correctly.

We bought two fans that come out of a chicken barn and use them in the barn. They give TONS more air flow than the Sullivan fans we use at the shows. These chicken barn fans were also significantly cheaper than others.
