This heifer is 4 days old.  We've been anxiously awaiting this one!  Our style calves have been real nice so far.

Edited 10/01/2011:
This heifer has really come on as of late.  Let me know what you think!  This heifer has a 3/30 birthdate.

She looks real nice!  Keep us posted as she develops...  How have the birthweights been on your Style calves, and did you breed any heifers to him??

I thought about breeding heifers to him last year but chickened out.  I think he will be fine on heifers.  Our Heifer calves out of him are mid 70's and the bulls haven't been over 81lbs.  They are shaped right to come out easy.  I actually bred a heifer to him this morning.  They do stouten up but I'd still recommend breeding him to stouter boned cattle with a tick more muscle.  He really puts a cool front end in one.

She turned out nice!  As a group, how would you recommend breeding Style??  I've seen a few, but not enough to see where he works best...

Style will clean up fronts, give you a cool look, and give you excellent hair.  I would just make sure that you breed him to a stout cow.  I used him again this year and will continue to do so.  I think he may be better at making show heifers than his sire.

I really like our Style calves out of the simmi cows. We used him on a variety of cows. Seems like he worked well on the stout, heavy muscles simmy cows the best. The best heifer calf we have this year is a style X magnitude/simmi half blood cow... she might be a little more moderate than i want but she sure is cool fronted and deep; she could be a little more powerful compared to the simmental calves... the bulls have been impressive too, very stout, big ribbed and have muscle plus some nice neck extension and good front ends. Birth weights for us have been average 85 for heifers and around 89 for bulls. Did hear of a guy that had a Macho heifer that had a style calf that was over 100.... I would still use him on the right simmental heifer but otherwise probably not on all my heifers.

oh by the way, the Style heifer has incredible hair and a cool look to her... she is for sale private treaty (in eastern nebraska)

I didn't have any big ones out of Style.  Mine are all straight angus.  I know his BW EPD went up but the calves we've had are shaped to come out.  I used him on heifers and will continue to do so.  Like JWW said, they do have excellent hair!
