I thought I would ask the 'Planet to provide some feedback on %Sim bulls that will soften up a %Sim female and maybe add a shot of frame size as well.  I will say my first thought goes to Long's The Player bull, but I have heard he is moderate framed himself and may moderate a female.  I am looking for a little size.  Thanks for the input!

Good luck! Trying to find a bull that will sure enough ADD frame is no easy task. Been looking around myself.  I will be following this thread.

I will add....it seems JF Milestone genetics tend to add frame.

How big is your cow?

A good friend of mine just had a Longs the Player bull calf come a week or so ago.... obviously don't know yet what he'll do framewise, but I sure like the looks of the calf. Came at about 65 pounds but thick, and is growing like a weed at this point.

Nearly every Simmental bull out there will increase frame over what most consider to be moderate.

I don't agree with that. But maybe my idea of moderate is different from everyone else's.

I disagree, XBar.
While I've not used EVERY Simmental sire out there, we have used 8 or 10 different ones over the past 10 years, and daughters retained from them - and a previously-used homebred 5/8-3/8 SimAngus bull - have all been significantly smaller-framed than those sired by a half-dozen Shorthorn AI sires and similar number of Angus AI sires(except for a couple of 4.0 frame AN).

That said, we're commercial producers, with no showring aspirations, and truthfully, no idea what 'softening' entails.  Breeding for production(primarily high WW), maternal traits, and REA/Mrb/Shr.
Have mostly been stacking influence of Hooks Shear Force 38K, by using several sons/grandsons, but also Dikeman's Sure Bet (54" mature height... that's pretty moderate, I'd say), PRS Blazin' Hot, JF Milestone, and ASR Longevity.

Back to the subject at hand:T

I would consider using the Rust Mountain Bull RUST BREAKTHROUGH 4043. For a 50% Simmental Bull he has plenty of power.  The ting to remember is that frame with out power or perfomance means nothing:http://bohrsonmarketingservices.mybigcommerce.com/rust-breakthrough-4043/
Other than that i like the idea of using a purebred bull here. I would lok at LFE Commissioner 811z (or even this bulls sire 3D BLK Full throttle). LFE the Riddler, or  the old bull TMT Top Cut (lots of Birth weight here).

How much would the Cow have to say about frame size of her calf?  Even if your talking ET, your recip needs to produce milk and feed her calf.  If you have a bad recip, growth of calf in early stage is stalled and will most likely, but not always, be more moderate in frame.

The cow has plenty of influence on the size and growth rate of the calf she produces and it starts before thr calf is born.  A small cow has less nutrients to supply her unborn calf and that means her calf will have less oppurtunity to develop than if the cow was bigger.  Then this light birth weight calf will need an excellent dam ( milk etc.) and feed environment to catch up to thr calf out of a well taken care of larger cow.
