SVF/NJC Amazon should give you a pretty sharp looking calf from her. Might not help with the EPD's but there is no DREAM ON there and Amazon is Homozygous Black with the white on the face. I saw him sale at Sunset View and have seen some sale sired by him and they did very well. Upgrade and Trademark are nice too.

Do you know any where I could find pictures of Amazon calves? What kind of phenotype does he throw?

It seems to me that that have your heart set on using a black bull.  My main concern is making sure the females and bull calves are the type you can sell to purebred  breeders and commercial bull customers.  I want to win shows but functionality is necessary.
Genex has a couple of bulls that are nice spread bulls TNT TANKER U236 and MR NLC UPGRADE U8676.Let me know what you think.
I would like to use a Fleck Bull on her to power her up; but for you birth weight and front end issues would make them not a wise choice for you.  Check out this bull for example:http://www.semex.com/di/beef/i?lang=en&beef=view&breed=SI&av=&view=142

I was wondering if the Rendition in question was the baldy version?  If so, while his calves did very well this past summer, the amount of white your cow has, combined with his ability to bald them up, might result in more chrome than you desire.  Make sure you check the pedigree for white in the line for around three to four generations before her.  If is is present, the chance for quite a bit of white goes up exponentially.  Just something to think about.  On a related note, I like your cow!  From the views in the pictures, she is doing her job.  We have a Fat Butt heifer that we are pretty happy with right now, but we are not tagging her as the future of the industry!  LOL  He will pull them apart as far as width is concerned and for a two month old, has quite a bit of muscular expression and a pretty clean front.  She is out of a 1/2 blood simangus cow that has Dream On influence.  Mr. Morris said that is about the ideal mating for him and with the amount of DO females out there......  things are looking up for Fat Butt.  I completely understand trying to breed for a show animal, but I would say breed for what you like and for what works in your program.  While getting the handshake is really nice, around our place, if they dont work around the house, they dont have a place for us.

While I want my animals to be functional as well, I will be going to college in the near future and I would like to get some good show animals before I have to stop showing for a while. This animal was bred to be functional, and she has done the job for me in the past while being a show winner, so I would like to breed her to something a little bit more showy than production based. The last two bulls she has been bred to were production based, and I want to try something different. I didn't to breed her to a clubby because of LACK of functionality, and that is why I would like her to be bred to PB Simmy. Also, in my area, if you have red calves you can get about 30 cents a pound less at the sales than black, so that's why I wanna stay black. Around here, they have to work and show decent, so the bar is high already.  ;D

IDK about the rest of you but i did see that she was a dream on cow and you want to breed her back to dream on progeny??????

ya that's right... and I fixed your typo

Yes, I did realize that she was  Dream On, but she is a Granddaughter, and the bulls that I were considering were either Dream on sons or Dream one Grandsons, so I do not feel like there will be a problem.  ;)

Also, thanks for your suggestions. The main two bulls I was considering were Rendition and Cut Above. Thoughts on this? I have wondered about Steel Force and Chopper and Climax, but I haven't seen enough calves. If you have any other suggestions or offspring pictures, let me know! Thanks again for all of your input! Y'all rock ;D  <rock>

If you don't want red then you should avoid Rendition, Chopper, and Steel Force since they are all hetero black.

Both of the last bulls she was bred to were hetero black and out of older red genetics or red dams, so I am willing to take the chance with a Heterozygous bull rather than a pure Red. Especially if it was Rendition. I would be willing to take a risk with Rendition as opposed to some other bulls. I have seen some really good progeny out of Rendition, but only a few out of Chopper. I just don't want to flat out breed her to red. Thanks for the warning though!  ;D  I would like to see more calves out of Chopper and SF as well. Since Cut Above is Homo black, he is one of the ones on the short list. I really appreciate your help!  <rock>

Does anyone know how Rendition stamps a calf? It may have already been answered, but I have seen some contradicting statements. I have heard that he cleans up a front, and I have heard he adds leather.

We have a rendition calf. Just about 30 days, so it is still early to tell. The cow is awesome, but the bull calf seems average right now. The cow has no white (just a smudge on her udder), and is a Westfall Crossfire. See how much white the calf has? A little to much for me! Notice the white on the back legs? All from Rendition. Sorry it is not the best pic, taken from my phone when he was born.

What a cutie! I don't mind a little bit of white on the back feet, but would prefer black. Any other Homozygous suggestions? Does anyone have pictures or information on Cut Above calves?

Just thought of one that I would think will click with that cow and produce a solid set of EPD's (PRS Blazin Hot W192). Haven't seen many calves from him but I haven't heard anything but good things about him. Looks like good EPD's all the way across plus he's a step farther down from Dream On than say Steel Force or Built Right being sired by Dew it Right.
My Top 3:
1. Amazon
2. Upgrade
3. Blazin Hot
Again Good Luck and Good Choosing!

Have any of you seen calves out of the bull F Nichol's Muhammad or Simme Valley Macho as U? I saw some Macho calves that looked good to me, just wondering what y'all thought.
