I judged the Simmental at Tulsa State Fair a few years ago, and I remember a couple of breeders that had particularly good cattle. I visited with some of the breeders after the show, and they were friendly and inviting. Kurt and Joann Hamburger of HH Farms did a nice job... http://www.breedingcattlepage.com/hhsimmfarms/aroundthefarm.html

There was another family, and I can't recall their last names at the moment. Two brothers...I think they were named Jeff and John...maybe...
REALLY strong set of cattle though. I want to say their prefix is WS and their last name starts with a "W" but it's been a few years and I can't remember...sorry.

I do remember a lot of good cattle. It was a strong show, so I'm sure there are still breeders around. I also judged at Ft Worth and had a lot of cattle from Oklahoma. Those same two breeders had a strong set that year as well, and a lot of the better cattle were from Oklahoma if I remember correctly.

You could also check with the ASA about a list of breeders from your area. Ask for a copy of the SimTalk breeders directory which has all the members broken down by state. The ASA field reps also know a lot of breeders who may not advertise as much but have good cattle or would be good to work with if you want to buy or lease a heifer.

Good luck!

I'm pretty sure you are referring to the Willis's. Super nice people and good cattle. http://willissimmentals.com/

There's a few breeders in north Texas if you're willing to go there. Circle M Farms http://circlemfarms.com/
Double M Simmentals http://www.doublemsimmentals.com/home.html

Willis...YES...that's them! They ARE really nice folks. And they had good cattle.

This family is SUPER! Great kids that work hard, and the Grandma of the group takes pics for EVERYONE and sends them out. They have great cattle, and a huge extended family. They hosted the South Central Regional Simmental show in 2009 in Durant, OK. Highly recommended!

The Willis's are great people with great cattle. I bought several of them while i showed, and they all did well for me.

Good Cattle, CHEAP!  Frank's wife just passed away last week.  I'm sure he would love to talk cattle, and give him some Joy!

Hey, just wanted to correct this post.  I'm Frank Jr. and my mother did not pass away.  She did have a heart attack about 10 days before your post.  I'm happy to say she's very much alive.  Sorry, it's strange coming across a post on the web about a family member that is inaccurate.

Thanks for referring my dad though.  I may be biased but he's damn proud of his cattle, does a fine job with them, and I can tell you he LOVES to talk about them and help others with theirs.  By all means, give him a call.  You won't regret it.

ps - CHEAP with all caps huh?  Maybe we should raise our prices a tad if they're so good?  My dad and I could use a few more dollars in our pockts. lol!    ;D (lol) Take care fellas...Cheers!

Hi, Frank,
Glad to hear your Mom is well.  I can't remember now from whom I received my misinformation.  For many years I have admired how passionate your Dad is about his cattle.  And folks, when I say GOOD Cattle, cheap, the emphasis should be on the GOOD, very GOOD Simmental cattle.

Welcome to Steer Planet!
