Anyone know anything about the Simmy bull Lock N Load?  He should have calves coming on the ground this year.  Looks like he took a good picture.  I saw that in the Simmental Register.  Plus he's a complete outcross to a lot of the popular Simmy bulls.  Anyhow just curious if anyone has used him or knows much about him.  Figured I'd call Wernings as well but thought I would pose the question to the Planet.

Thanks

I talked to wernings last night in fact about the bull, he came out of Canada from Remmington cattle, He goes back to red lable, they said he is a cool fronted deep bodied easy moving bull that will sire a bunch of muscle. And his perfect bald face does not hurt him.

Nope Scott did not have any calves, they just bought into him right before denver. And if there are any calves on the ground now they did not mention it. I called him to see if I could get semen on him, and while I was shooting the bull with him he mentioned that they bought half intrest in a new one from Yardley's, they said that one is flat awesome.

Interesting what's the name of that bull?  What's his breeding?  LOL You may have saved me a call.  Thanks!

It would not suprise me at all if there are no lock N load calves as he is an off age may bull. His name however was changed from Remington Womanizer to Remington Lock N Load and this past November at Canadian Western Agribition he was named reserve junior champion bull and later sold for $36 000 in Remingtons December sale.

I noticed some Lock N Load bulls advertised in the last Register & SimTalk... I liked em, too. They definitely caught my eye. I like the bull...he's available through Cattle Visions now, but the semen is pricey. I think it was listed at $125 a straw?...

Ok yeah...I remembered it being $100 + and that usually kinda knocks one off my list of potentials for us. Plus he's heterozygous black, so he doesn't fit in what we're doing, but I did like the looks of those calves in the pics. Maybe one of those guys will be homozygous black & end up in a stud somewhere...

We got a few purebred Angus cows from Remington that were bred to LockN Load. One was the dam of the bull EBY Ranch is promoting. The three all calved unassisted, all were baldys and all sold for about what their dams cost. These cows did not calve until mid April so they were not around people as much as the earlier ones and their dams were not as quiet as they are now after a year but the calves were also a little high headed but settled down at weaning to be saleable. They grew excellent and were excellent quality.
