Wanted to share this website with you guys. Cool idea!! People create an account and can "review" bulls, post offspring photos, etc to help people make more educated breeding decisions. No idea how old the website is but would love for some of the experienced breeders to share their knowledge on there. May eventually cut down on all the
"Breeding suggestions" posts. It is not my website, just popped up in a Google search I did yesterday. Anyway here it is!!

Merry13,

Thanks for the shout out to our site.  We have been up and running for 3 months now and already have over 1,000 users and bulls are being rated daily.  As of now our main users have been beef breeders but we are really hoping it will catch on with the club calf breeders across the country.  It's our goal to receive unbiased opinions of sires to help increase the quality of genetics for the beef and show industry.  We gladly accept any feedback on how to make the site better.  Again, it's a free service provided to all breeders!  Take advantage of it!  Thanks again and let me know if you have any questions.

KAXX thanks for taking the time to review.  We have a lot of great updates and features coming soon that will allow more connection amongst breeders.  Mini forums attached to each bull, a messaging system, and a section to post sons or daughters for sale from a certain bull, attached to his page.  Those are just a couple...so stay tuned!!

I think it might be beneficial to be able to "subscribe" to certain bulls that would give us notifications (by email, when we log in, whatever) when people update bull info. So we don't have to repeatedly check back for into that may/may not be updated. Maybe already available but I didn't see it. Just a thought:) I really look forward to watching this website progress!!

That's already on the list!  In the future you will be able to "Tag" a bull. From that point, anytime there are reviews, comments, offspring uploaded, etc. the user will get a notification when they login into the site.  They will be to access a list of "My Tagged Bulls".  The user will also have the option of being alerted by email, but that will remain up to the user.

Keep bringing us ideas and we'll implement them!  Thanks again.

Maybe a search feature to easily access a specific sire in mind. Lol I could just be blind and didn't see it 🙈

There is a search feature but it appears to only be available on a computer, not on mobile. Top right corner.

Sirereviews could you please give us a quick summary as to how your list come together? Are there formulas or is it some type of  popularity contest. Just curious as to how much weight to put into the choices. Thanks in advance. Cab.

The goal of the site is to list every bull from every breed.  Obviously, that's a lot of bulls and we are a ways from that.  There is no formula for how bulls get posted to the site.  As we come across new bulls that we don't have on the site we list them on there.  There is also a place for users to suggest bulls to be loaded to the site.  We then review the suggestion, and if he is a real bull then he will get listed.

Users then can review the bulls.  As bulls get rated, the bulls with the highest overrall rating are sorted at the top.  However, users have the option to sort the list by many different ways such as Date of Birth, Recently Rated, Newest Additions, etc...

I hope I answered your question.  Please let me know if I didn't.

So I guess my question is do you have a certain criteria or is it more of a popularity contest where the more a bull is asked for or suggested the higher up the list he gets placed?

I have checked out the site a few different times and I really like it and think it will be a very nice site to use as more people start to rate the bulls.  The only thing I seen on it that I could make a complaint about is the rating system.  You have to rate all the traits on a bull before they will let you submit a rating. The one problem with this is new bulls have to wait a couple of years before people can give them ratings on traits such as maternal and carcass.  But is you were to beable to rate only the traits the you currently have avalible then a breeder could get on there and see the calving ease rating for a new bull within a few month of his first calf crop hitting the ground. Plus there are breeders or even commercial guys that don't collect data on traits such as carcass, so this excludes them from even being able to rate a bull they have used unless they submit a false rating.

I really like the site. The more I play around with it the more changes I'm seeing! I think I've been on it for about a month or so. Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to let everyone know on this thread that we have just gone live with a new SireReviews.com. This has a lot more functionality with a much cleaner and easier to use look!  To answer some questions from this thread.....The sires are ranked by tiers.  First the site looks to the actual overall rating which is the average of all the traits that were rated.  If there is a tie then the site looks to the number of ratings and ranks the bull higher if it has more ratings.

We are working on the issue of not requiring all traits to be required to be rated.  We understand that at the time of rating you might not have seen daughters or mature offspring so some traits should not be rated. It's on our to do list!

Checks us out at http://www.sirereviews.com and please rate as many as you can.  This is a free site for breeders to use and learn from one another!
