Started snowing here at Cheyenne on Tues. night and wind started around midnight.  Kept snowing and was blowing 35 gusting 45 most of the day.  Had about 11 inches from the storm so far. Corrals getting plugged up.  Supposed to be ending and moving out to Nebraska and SoDak, but is still hanging around blowing and snowing.  We had 14 inches the 10th of October.  25 inches for the month here and broke the old records.  I'm tired of winter already, but drought is worse.

Hope it moves east for you, GoWyo.  Otoh, my friend who ranches at Simla, CO, would shoot me for wishing that on them!  I've been wondering what part of the state you're in!

It is comin your way Kids!

No school or work here for the last 2 days.....supposed to end at midnite......I hope.

I cannot tell how much snow we really have, but have 5 ft drifts.  Lots of wind....too early for this stuff!

Haul some wood in the house and put on another sweater.  Hope all of your cattle are in!

Cowz, aren't you at about 7,000 feet elv?

Yes, we are on the watershed divide (waters split to run either north or south) at 7300 ft.  Insane to run cattle here in the winter.  arrggh

But on a positive note, it was the best hay year ever.  We still have 2 fields to haul bales from if it ever stops snowing....4th snow so far, not even Halloween.  Go figure!

I'll try to post some photos of the carnage tomorrow.  Schools closed early Wed. and were canceled from Cheyenne to the Nebraska line today.  I-25 and I-80 are both shut down, but you can get to Colorado on US 85.  Finally quit snowing, but the wind is staying strong at 30 gusting 40 from the north -- gotta love ground blizzards.  Calves look like abominable snow critters with all the swirling in the corral.  Good thing they are haired up -- seem to be taking it in stride.

Maybe all the "Global Warming" fanatics should come out and help the farmers and ranchers move snow and get their crops in during this "extreme warming phase".  Oh yeah, I forgot, they call it "Climate Change" now so they can act like they're right no matter what happens!!

We live on the Palmer Divide in Colorado and got about 2 1/2 feet. Four foot plus drifts. Warm today and it's melting like crazy. Have one crazy cow still out in pasture that we can't get loaded in the trailer for anything!!! Ugh, checked her today and her calf has dropped and she is stringing.
