I get bored every now and than at University and I like to look through bull and donor pedigrees.
I found these 5 bulls showing up quite a bit in some of the more showy donors:
Vortec
Diamond Leggs 21
Creole 9590
steermaker
HS Rodeo Drive
Prime Time Paymaster
Hill Haven Bold<(believe he's canadian)
Wondering if any of this semen is still available in canada.
aswell as...
Gizmo and Jakes Proud Jazz (For Breeding Heifers

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, i was thinking of giving dixon farms a call. Have you used the bull much yourself? His pedigree is a little different and find his sire to be quite impressive.

We used Bold this year. Have calves coming in the spring. I saw him last fall and several bred daughters of his. Liked them enough and him enough , that I tried to buy Bold. Cagwin beat me to the punch and purchased him about 8 hours earlier.
Was able to purchase his full brother this fall and look forward to using him .

I had a lot of fun showing some of the the Leggs and Steermaker breedings back in the day.

I always thought Gizmo was one of the most underrated bulls of his time.  Her name has slipped my mind, but there was a lady in the sand hills of Nebraska who had some very nice beasts out of the Leggs and Gizmo breedings.

Anyone know how Gizmo ended up coming out of the defect deal?

I am not sure if Gizmo semen made it to canada or not? I always liked Elbee Wymore ( semex). Wymore was very deep bodied in person.

Medium Rare Steak guy- You might be thinking of Darlees in NE?? She used a bull called Diamond Country  ( leggs) ? The daughters were nice deep bodied females.  Also I think Ward made some good money on Gizmo semen ? If you look it's still used today- Will Lane has some nice stuff and is promoting Elbee Throwback .

All of the Gizmo and Diamond Legg influence may be too moderate for most breeders in Western Canada? ?
