I don't know about all of you but I am getting tired of reading the news and seeing parents arrested for spanking their kids. What the he11 is the matter with this country? Parents need to start being parents and not homies to their kids. If this would have been the attitude when my kids were growing up I would be in prison. They got whooped when they needed it and they turned out fine. My oldest boy is obtaining his PHD in animal health and nutrition instead of living in prison with 6 kids from 6 different women so I would say the spankings didn't scar him for life like our current civilization thinks it will. Thanks for letting me vent.

Can't spank but killing them is ok.

Can't bully, but spanking is ok.

Can't carry a knife, but killing is ok.

Can't make a gun out of a pop tart, but killing is ok.

The list is basically infinite.

Hypocrisy is a religion.

I used to spank my kids, or thump on their back sides, but it was because I was young and overwhelmed and they had me outnumbered. The one I spanked the most turned out the worst. The real problem was lack of discipline and consistency in my part. This is much worse today with parents being more involved with their smart phones than their families.
In retrospect, I realize that children are small and adults are big and there is no rational reason to hit them other than to get their attention when they ignore a command that involves safety.
Lack of spanking is not the driver of kids calling the police on their parents for punishing them. It's chronic lack of attention and self involvement that leads to lack of respect.

The thing about continually outlawing spanking is that it is like spanking itself logically.

Both liberals and conservatives think that by continually outlawing things that they are going to save society.

They are making it worse by creating a society where it is impossible to live without breaking some law.

Most people just don't get it. It just feels too good to outlaw something and force other people to conform to their expectations.

Mental spanking is no different than physical spanking.

Go ahead people, keep giving the  government more and more power.

They feel absolutely no respect for you and know you can do nothing about it.

I agree with you on the erosion of personal liberty.
My kids step mother actually did call social services because their father was spanking one of them unjustly. I thought is was harmless until they came to investigate the kids welfare at my house. My house was a one room cabin with no running water or electricity and the boys slept in the loft. Pretty much like Abe Lincoln or Laura Ingalls Wilder. We were all happy and I was building my own house on my own land while we roughed it. Social services threatened to remove the boys because they were sharing a room and we had no plumbing. So in effect, it's against the law to be a pioneer homesteader and have kids growing up in an environment where they learn to do things the hard way. Let alone that they shared a 22 rifle as well as a room.
And don't even start about building codes.
AND later on I was fined for teaching my 12 year old to drive so he get me to town if I got hurt.
End of rant.
