Nice heifer - Thanks for using Star Power.

Our experience has been that if you like them when they are born you will love them as yearlings but they will go through a 'growth stage' and look a little hard some time in between.

Please keep in mind that we don't recommend using him on 1st calf heifers.

David, would you say he reduces frame?  Just curious.  I had planned to use him on some larger framed simmi cows trying to moderate frame and add style?  Am I on the right track?

We sold a nice Bull calf this year and His mom was moderate and he was about the same. Definately didn't increase frame. She was a first calver. Performance was excellent as well.

It depends on who you ask. Purebred guys typically say that he breeds true to the cow or downsizes, club calf guys say that he either breeds true to the cow or adds a little. In your case I would guess that he will make them smaller but I don't know if it will be enough for what you want. He should definately add style.

Went to a sale Saturday that had Simi influenced bulls from 1/2 bloods to purebreds. In my opinion the Star Power sired calves were the largest framed bulls available as a sire group. JMO.

I didn't say that there weren't some good Star Power calves out there, in fact I thought that second best bull @ this sale was a Star Power F-1 Baldy. Soft and deep, big boned, good structured. Maybe carried some leather up front, but a very complete bull. I saw some very good Star Power heifers last fall. Chuck McCoughla,(SP) had one nice SP heifer on his sale.

I believe the reason there is some negative feedback is due the fact that many people used him as a calving ease bull before he was proven and didn't have great luck.  Cranking calves out of heifers will sour most people.  The bull seems to sire some really nice cattle when used right.
