I haven't heard that one. He's an ET calf so I would guess not. I heard that he was born a few weeks early. But what do I know about it, or any of us for that matter.

Have heard the rumor as well.

He is listed on the ASA website as a Fresh Embryo calf that weighed 70 lbs.

The rumor that I heard is that he was closer to 50 pounds and was a twin.

If you get a big BW calf, it was the evil twin.  If it is a low BW calf, it was Star Power.

Does the evil twin have a curly moustache?

Have to wait until the big BW calves hit puberty to see if the mustache shows.  Is that a dominant or recessive trait?

Oh, it's dominant for sure.  I'm pretty sure Throttle and Sugar Ray both had pretty good 'staches, but the fitter musta trimmed them down.

It is usually the case that a fitter is involved and up to no good when nasty recessive traits are hidden by glue and paint or just whacked off with blocking blades.  I am guessing that is what happened to Star Power's evil twin's mustache right before he did the switcheroo and slipped into the collection chute.

They can claimn he had a small birth weight all they want to folks, all I saw here was BIG babies , the smallest one was 20 ponds bigger than daddy claimed to be. The bigger two were 122 and 130. Go figure, I know my cows as I raised every one of them, and that kind of birth weight is not in any of them but one, and she is a Heat Wave-Foreplay --so I figured I'd give him that one.

Star POwer, at least here, produced only 1 decent calf of the three I had -- just nothing to them for looks at all from good cows. One is really cocky -- but needs a ton of hair and bone to ever make it in the big time. Not using any more of that I doubt.

My ten cents for the day!

In my honest opinionated opinion,I have seen well over 50 calves out of SP and about 5% were very good. All out of mature cows with past history of having way better than average calves. Some bulls just don't cut the mustard. It is just the way it is sometimes. They done a bang up job promoting him,but calves out of good cows don't lie.

Had two calves out of Star power this spring.  One was a Bull out of a Goldmine PB Simmy that was about 100 lbs at birth.  He is ok has some stoutness and bone, just doesn't balance up nice enough for me.  We also had a heifer out of a Meyer X Double Down Shorthorn Cow that will be a 3/4 heifer and she weighed 88 lbs at birth.  This one I think could be petty nice she has plenty of bone and thickness and I don't know if I have ever seen a cleaner more extended front end on that high of a simmy.  At this point I would like to see her belly down a little more but I think she will when she gets on creep harder and gets a little older.  So that's my experience one good and one ok out of above average cows.  Didn't use any this year.

I went to a breeder with some very nice star powers and even picked one up. He has to be used on the right cow for sure! This little heifer has a lot of potential and eats like there is no tomorrow, shes a very functional heifer loaded with style and balance and did I mention functional?  The cows he used were very sound, soggy made cows that have had there fair share of major wins, not clubby bred simmys either...I was a little worried with all the hype how the calves looked, but that all changed when I saw them.

Can't comment on the BW status of SP himself, but I can talk about the calves.  We have had 4 born here; all out of PB Simmy cows.  Our second best fall heifer is an SP...granted her momma is a top end cow.  The 3 spring calves are all decent, but none have the killer look.  Birthweights on the calves.....only the fall heifer at 92 pounds broke the 90 pound barrier....so that was not a problem.

The bottom line.  All of the SP semen stayed in the tank this spring; none went into cows or heifers....bred to  Built Right and In Dew Time where we wanted to use Dream On sons.
