I have seen people post topics on here before about which bull they should flush their cow to and I was hoping some people on here might be able to help me too. I have a NPS Durango cow  that is out of a Marellan Super Dazzler daughter that we are planning on flushing. What shorthorn bull do you think would work best with her.  I was thinking about Ace of Diamonds or Gus.What do you think? Would trump lines work best on a Durango daughter?  Im wanting to breed more for show heifers and breeding bulls than steers. This will be the first time we have ever flushed a cow and are pretty excited about it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I posted a picture of the cow as well. She did have a  very nice bull calf out of Elderado back in september but we cant get semen out of him, if I could he would be my first choice to flush her to.

Welp, first off 90% of the people on here are going to tell you to go with gus or jpj...  I for one think you should be more open to suggestions...  but that could be me, I don't like to follow the crowd... and I HATE JPJ!!  I think your trump lined cattle options are endless... throw a stick in the magazine, open a page, and go... you'll likely find one..  I say do your homework first though on cert cost, those with 50 certs are a rip off, it only costs the breeder 5...

I think gus could be an option for you, and might like that suggestions... the only thing would be- is it going to be ok to have white calves?  theoretically, 50% will be out of a roan cow...

The vortec suggetion is also interesting, and could be... with that you have a 50 semen cost, and although i don't mind it- you're going to need atleast 2 of them.. so if that's a problem then well..

Don't know if I'd go with AoD... I hear some of his calves can get shallow and tubey... think you cow could be droped in the for-rib heart area some...

A bull that I've always admired through the last few years was the cf ringo bull.. but then you have to ask yourself is having a double bred, linebred durango calf what you want... it may not be...  I'd do it just to try out!

ANother suggestion would be sherwoods red vision... He's an interesting pedigree'd bull.. who works on a super wide variety of cows.  If you over look his BW EPD...  haven't heard of any train wrecks though.. not like other trump bred cattle...

Perhaps my best suggestion might be to use ----- dam brain fart...  will think of it in 5 min....

Is it possible to post her registration number? She is a nice looking cow. I like her alot.

If I were trying to create replacement females I would definitely do my research before spending $$ on flush. Martindell and Nick Steinke have used Durango quiet a bit. They bred him. I would hesitate to contact either one of them and ask. I know there are folks who have used  Durango on here and someone surely will give you some additional info.

We have just seem to have luck with Sonny females. He would be one of the first choice for me on a flush.

Two other sires that would offer some diveristy and I have seen some awesome cows out of is Gizmo and Steermaker. Both would enhance what you already have.

Thank you all who have replied so far (clapping) I am getting lots of ideas, and thanks for the compliments OhBreeder. Here is her pedigree below, the cows name is Sutherland Isobel 703, and her registration # is *x4039019 and I also have a picture of her dam but I cant seem to find it. I was actually thinking that Sonny might just work on this cow but I dont know if I would be able to get my hands on any semen. Is there any available semen from Steermaker and Gizmo? I personally never seen any calves by either what are they like and I think I have seen only one Mickey calf but the one that I did see I liked.  Also I sort of agree with you kfacres on JPJ. I dont really care for him much either, the big thing that I worry about him is that his calves just dont grow from what Ive heard. I do think that he is an excellent choice for a heifer bull. Since this will be for a flush price doesn't really concern me too much unless the cost of semen is just ridiculous.

We have a solid red, polled, 1/2 sib to AoD out of a Sonny cow. His first calves are going to be coming in February, but we really like him.

I think you have a very good cow and she also has an impressive pedigree.... very solid genetics on both sides of her pedigree.  I really liked her dam, and I was the runner up bidder on her when Sutherland purchased her in the Wankel sale several years ago. She was ahead of her time, super thick and deep sided, with enough size and yet very feminine fronted. I also remember that both the original Mirage and Mattis females sold in this same sale, and in my opinion, the dam of your cow was leagues ahead of them in quality. Just my opinion of course.

As for sires to use on her, I could suggest several that would work on a cow of her kind. I guess you have to decide what you are aiming at producing and then make a list of potential sires. I find that when I am struggling to decide what sire I am going to use in a flush, that it helps to make a list and then start to eliminate it down to a few potential sires. We had 17 donors at the ET center last year at the same time, and I simply had to make a list of possible sires, then look at the embryo inventories I had from each donor, and then start to sort the sires down to the ones that I thought would result in what I was wanting to produce from each donor.

Primo could sure work on her if you are interested in partnering with one of the shareholders on a flush.

If you are going to be selling embryos you might want to consider a bull like Sonny that has some pedigree power.

If you want to sell the eggs then Sonny would have the notiriety. If you are flushing for yourself there are obivously alot of different ways you could go. JIT's bull Wolf Willow would give you an outcross.

Nice Isobel, i would be using Cor Fear Factor to give you  a little something different and very saleable. Sorry-I dont agree-I havent seen anything out of him I liked AT ALL-other than Studers bull caf-they were long legged large framed,-shallow gutted-and rolled pins to hooks-he was a great looking bull-and got bred to alot of high end cows-show me the quality O0
