A 400 lb calf is still a baby.  I would back off of some of the corn and put him on some probios to help his tummy out and feed him a starter ration.  Purina makes some starter feeds and I am sure there are others out there.  That small and they are usually still on creep, grass and mama's milk.  Don't push him now, you may end up ruining his stomach.

I've used a bloat block the last two years.  The calves lick on it as needed and it did the trick.  Pretty idiot proof.  I have also fed vitafirm sure champ the last two years and calves stil bloated.

Bloat Block, we had 2 steer that did that and it kept them from bloating...we also stopped them on grain and gave them more hay!

I don't know where you are located, but that is a really high corn ration for a calf that size this time of year.  I would back it down to no more than 40% corn and keep the calf cool.  High summer heat and high corn makes for serious bloat problems.  Get a bloat block or add the baking soda like suggested.  Might try to get some probios paste down him too.  That always worked for me.

I have been feeding this ration for a couple of years now and have never had a problem with it but this year is different maybe I will add a starter pellet toit like purina precon or something
