This is my daughter's steer for our county fair which will be the first week of May this year.  He is a December steer and of yesterday he weighed 802 pounds.  Please give me your honest opinions of him, the good and the bad.  I have attached 3 pictures to look at.  Thanks and have a great day!  Lisa

Okay, someone made a comment that his hind leg will probably not be right.  Can someone explain to me please what they are seeing so I can understand.  Thanks for your help.  Lisa

He has just a little bit too much "set" in his hind leg .. hoof trimming might help . He's a nice calf though .

I don't think he has too much set.  He is just sound, which is a good thing.  I think he will tend to straighten a little as he gets bigger and if he's got leg hair you should be able to block the leg in that he will look straight enough.

Dusty - Thanks for your opinion and your help.  I hope you are right about him getting straighter when he grows, because we have a slick haired show and won't be able to use his hair to help his back legs to look better.  Oh well, we will just have to hope for the best!! Lisa

i think he's a decent steer.  keep his bedding clean, practice getting the hair swirls out as they show up in lighter coated animals, and start setting him up so his cannon's are straight up and down and take pictures and visualize internally where you need to be to get him there without having to look or take time.  sometimes it's a little thing like getting him square, then pulling him slightly forward without moving his feet, getting some curl in his neck and getting his loin down in like 5 seconds.  if you can do this in that time, it goes a long ways towards showmanship as well and you can talk about it when the judge asks what you would like to change.

you could even do this and resubmit some photo's.  hint hint
