We just held our first online sale here on steer planet and I want to let anyone who is thinking about doing one on here do it! The sale ran great and Jason did a great job making sure everything went smooth. I highly recommend using steer planet for your upcoming sales!  (clapping)

Congrats on your sale! I wasn't sure how the first few sales would go just because wasn't sure how much traffic there would be. But a big S/O to Jason for adding a great option to Steerplanet!

Thanks, I appreciated the opportunity to having your auction on SP.

Right now, the cost you would pay to have your auction on Steer Planet, is cheaper than you would pay to actually advertise an auction on Steer Planet.  I include advertising completely free when hosting an auction using my service.  In the long run, the price will likely go up a bit, but I am willing to subsidize it this year to introduce my concept.

I think we have 2 huge competitive advantages...

Price - there is huge savings in hosting your own auction compared to traditional service.  In many cases, my service might be 1/10th the cost of another company.

Exposure - we currently have over 65,000 unique visitors visit the site over 200,000 times and generate 2,000,000 page views a month.  I don't think there is another show-oriented site that is bigger, there are definitely more general cattle sites that are.

It requires a bit more work by the seller.  They are actually responsible for listing their lots and collecting payment at the end, but the cost savings are huge.

Ideally the concept is more like an online private treaty sale.  The system handles all the work of the bidding and gives you an online exposure.  I do have a Steer Planet App in development that basically is a very phone friendly bidding tool and I am looking into a way of people being able to phone their bid without a smartphone.

I am very excited for our Bluebonnetts and Buckles sale on April 27th.  System seems to be running very well, and I just got in about a 1/3 of the consignment cattle today, and it should be a high quality set of heifers and steers.

Your sale should generate a lot of interest, you have a heck of an offering.

I had some ask me what % we charge today, just want to make sure people understood our business model.

We just charge a flat rate of $20 per lot, you can have no reserve, reserve, buy-it-now or minimum bids.  There is no advertising fee.  There is a minimum fee of $240.00 (this would only come into play if you had 11 or less lots).

You are responsible for listing your lots and collecting payment at the end.

Here is a good example of the savings on average auction:

12 lots x $1500 (avg lot) = $18,000 (total gross)

Other Companies 8% - 10% = $1440 to $1800 (% would vary depending on company and total gross.  I don't know the exact current rates from other companies)

Steer Planet = $240 out the door, advertising included
